Please have confidence in my 100% honest descriptions and please read the following carefully. This is an Original, 6-18005 "700E" New York Central No. 5340 Hudson Steam Type Locomotive, Produced by Lionel Trains, Inc. Clemens, Michigan, Circa 1990 or so.

Yes, that's right, this beauty was MADE IN THE USA! The original Lionel 700E Full Scale Hudson was made between 1937 & 1942.

This model was produced in 1990 and was the first time Lionel brought back the "700E" with all the amazing detail and the full scale length tender--and they did an absolutely fantastic job! This magnificent locomotive is not perfect.

It has been run and does show the signs, but as you can see in the photos, it is in beautiful condition. The boiler front opens and closes with the appropriate "snap" and the headlight works. I track tested it using a conventional Lionel No. 1033, 90 watt transformer and it runs perfectly, with the E-unit cycling forward, neutral & reverse, the headlight working and the smoke unit puffing nicely. Still using the same transformer, I was able to hear the great RailSounds, blow the magnificent whistle and, reversing polarity (which is what the Sound Activation Button does), ring the bell!

This loco does not have the original box. It comes with the Sound Activation Button, which has never been used and still sealed in the poly bag. There are no other items included in this sale. The original instructions are available to download for free on the Lionel website. PLEASE NOTE: This loco requires a minimum of a 42 diameter curved track. For the electronic sounds to work, you will need a Lionel or similar transformer with a whistle and/or bell control. For the loco to continue to smoke, you will need Lionel or suitable smoke fluid. Anyway, these old eyes don't see like they used to, so I ask that you take the time to "ZOOM IN" and look the photos over very closely, to determine for yourself just what we have here. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ARE AN INTEGRAL and a VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS LISTING. You NEED to "ZOOM IN" and STUDY the photos very carefully. What you see is what you get.
