Key Features of MTH Proto-Sound 2.0. Digital Sound & Effects: Features authentic, digitally recorded sounds, including synchronized chuffing for steam engines or diesel prime mover sounds, whistle/horn, bell, and brake sounds. Proto-Coupler: Operating remote-controlled couplers on the front and/or rear allow for uncoupling anywhere on the layout. Synchronized Smoke: Steam locomotives include a smoke unit that synchronizes smoke puffs with wheel revolutions, producing more smoke as the engine speeds up.

Speed Control (Cruise Control): PS2 engines feature cruise control that maintains constant speed, regardless of grades or loads. DCS Command Control: Compatible with the MTH Digital Command System (DCS), allowing individual control of engines, lighting, and sounds without conventional voltage adjustments. Operation Modes: Can be operated in conventional mode with a standard transformer or in command mode (DCS). Built-in Battery Charger: Features a battery to maintain sound and control during momentary power interruptions.
