THIS IS THE ENGINE YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED. You are looking at one of the true icons of Lionel Trains--the 1950 773 steam engine. As you know, this is the Gold Standard steam locomotive of the postwar era. Lionel based this engine on the actual New York Central J-3 Hudson. Many collectors say that THIS is the locomotive to own!

You do not find details like these on the postwar locomotives. The 1950 version had the slide valve guide on the steam cylinder.

This one is the 1950 version. 12 wheel tender (six wheel trucks).

Can run on tubular track (unlike prewar 763 and 700e). One corner of the cab roof has a slight downward bend to it; so slight, you may not even notice it--hard to see. Tender looks nice, shows some playwear in the printing. Pictures show it all, and you can enlarge them, so take advantage.
