Here's another listing by. Lone Star Trains and Collectibles.
Your Classic Era Train Headquarters! NOT SURE YOU WILL FIND THIS SET MUCH MORE COMPLETE AND CLEAN! Keep scolling all the way down to see 30 more pictures at the bottom. This is one of the cleaner and most complete boxed sets we have had in a while. Or perhaps you have an American Flyer collector on your gift list.
We took time in writing it for you. We look forward to any questions--we answer all emails. Here is a detailed breakdown of each item for your consideration. The set box is complete and structurally strong. The tops of the inner flaps have some paper rubs from when it was first opened.
As you can see, the label is beautiful. There is a little tear out of the bottom of the label, but the rest is crisp, and the printing is sharp.
There are two very small punctures, likely from track: one on the short end, and one on the long AC Gilbert side near the bottom. These are minor, and visible in the pictures, but there. There is a minor stain on one bottom corner--probably from a smoke fluid tube. THE 4-6-4 NYC HUDSON #326. The 4-6-4 Hudson steam engine carries the famous New York Central markings. The engine is cosmetically beautiful. The numbering and lettering is strong. Overall, the paint looks great, as you can see. There are a few light paint rubs along some of the edges. One of the white walls has a chip on the edge, and a few others show a little wear. I cannot tell if the drawbar is a clean original or a reproduction. This die cast steam engine really looks great. We tested it, and it runs, cycles, smokes, choochoos and lights. This engine came in a few variations.
Plastic coated wiring between engine and tender. Tender trucks with center axles replaced by spring loaded sliding shoes. Wrapper stamped both 326 and 21058.Red glow of smoke in the smokestack. Steam whistle electronics in the tender (set includes the tube style controller). Great printing on the label. Also carries the 1957 stamping of 21058.
Minor paint rubs here and there. ALL OF THE ROLLING STOCK HAVE DIE CAST TRUCKS AND OPERATING KNUCKLE COUPLERS. NOTE: This set, like many others from this year, had three digit cars in five digit boxes.THE 922 (24008) PRR GAEX DF BOXCAR. The car shows light wear on edges of decals, but still strong.
Nibs still present both sides. Box is nice and stamped with a five digit number.
The car is crisp with all four corner steps present. There was ni number stamped on the box--just hand-written.One end flap of the box is worn. THE 911 C&O Chesapeake & Ohio PIPE GONDOLA. This car is CLEAN--like new. A few of the pipes have a slight curve to them from being in the box all these years.
The box is labelled 24108. The box has some wear; one end flap has some creasing and separation along the crease. 971 LUMBER UNLOADING CAR (25015).
The car is gorgeous--strong printing on each side. All four steps are present. Not sure if the men are original or repro--they are like new looking.Has the track activator and button; not sure if these are original or repro, but they are super clean. Box is nice--some minor softness, but even has the interior lining for the activator.
A very clean example of this car. Box is nice as well, stamped 24205.THE 935 BAY WINDOW DELUXE CABOOSE (24618). Tuscan caboose with yellow lettering. There is a small tear on the end flap on the unprinted end and on the interior tongue there.
One box of CURVED TRACK 26722 in the white box. Six sections of 26700 straight. (26752) 706 Remote control uncoupler in Box NEW looking. 26690 track terminal in envelope. 26693 track locks in envelope (18).
(22031) 100 watt transformer (#4) in original box. The transformer face has some wear--this is the one item that looks like it has seen some wear time. There are even 30 more pictures below under the "ADDED DESCRIPTION".
